Hey just dropping in to say thanks for the wonderful mare. I renamed her indie because she is a quick little thing! She loves her little sister KC they are always playing!! The picture that i am sending you is both of them!! She is gaining weight already and yells for me everytime she sees me walk in the barn bc she know that i am the bringer of FOOD!! She also thinks that it is funny when she takes the brushes from me when i am grooming her, but not only does she take them she drops them in the water bucket and runs to the other side of the stall! Thanks again! I could not ask for a better girl!! I love her and am looking forward to many years with her!!

I just wanted to let you know that Jack is settling in great! I swear he just gets sweeter everyday! He is just too perfect! I just wanted to thank you, he is wonderful and perfect for me in every way! He wasn't even phased by the move, and as soon as I took him off that trailer the most he did was look side to side and that was it! He headed straight for the hay and didn't care about anyone else! He is so smart, he already has the routine down! He knows when I have all the chores done and give him that last pat that I'm leaving for the night, so he hangs his head over the door and watches me leave :)! It makes me never want to leave, and he gets me every time because then I just have to go back and give him just one (or maybe ten) more pats! Anyway I just wanted to let you know that he is doing great! And thank you! Thank you so much!

Erin has an uncanny ability to match horses to their human companions.  "A match made in Heaven", or in this case, at South Jersey Thoroughbred Rescue.  My recently adopted Carolina Fog is an exceptionally sweet three year old, and we are quite a pair!  Dreams DO come true!

Thank you SJTR so much for finding, and saving my new buddy Derek. Derek is quickly becoming the best horse I ever had the pleasure of being with. Even though I'm a timid rider, I just can't believe the job you guys did with MATCHING Derek and I together. He has really boosted my confidence. It doesn't matter how old an x-race horse is I guess, it's really about what's inside that counts. Derek has the biggest heart of any horse I have ever known. I love him ssssooo much and I'm having so much fun SPOILING him !!! It  breaks my heart to think when I met him he didn't know what an apple was.But he does now!

Thanks again SJTR!!

You guys are GREAT

God Bless,

Dear Erin and SJTR,

I want to let you know how pleased we...my daughter, my girlfirend, and my horse trainer and I...all of us...are with Charlie, the horse we got from you last month.  Charlie is wonderful and exactly as you described and is precisely what we wanted.

It was a real pleasure to deal with you and would be very happy to obtain another horse from you.

Keep up the great work!

Martin Kasofsky and Lucy, too

About a year ago I had to put my pony, Honey, down who was a companion to Emily.  Emily is my sweetheart wrapped in a bay coat. I've had her since she was 5 months old, she is now 8. She is so special to me.  Well it was hard to see her alone out in the big meadow so I went in search of a friend for her.  I went online to petfinder in the fall of 2006 and found the South Jersey Thoroughbred Rescue listing a couple of prospects.  I sent and e-mail and was reponded to very quickly.  Arrangements were made and I went out to see "Libby".  She was a beautiful chestnut mare, 3 years old.  She was very thin, had rainrot and was a little timid.  I thought, well Emily is very submissive too, and I think they would make great friends, so Libby came to live with us.  At first she was very standoff ish and so was Emily.  Even after a month they were still not sitting chatting over tea, but I could see that they were moving closer and closer together and Emily seemed so much happier just having company....

Libby's rainrot has cleared up and so has her submissive, passive attitude.  She is now the dominant of the couple and looks great with her new found weight gain.  She is so happy with Emily and the two of them graze in the big meadow and occassionally when the spirit moves them, they will kick up their heels and run like the wind in their playful way.  Libby comes easily to the fence line and loves attention.  While no one has riden her since her arrival, we will begin lounging and give it a go in a couple weeks.

South Jersey Thoroughbred Rescue was a good source of support and information. Whenever I had questions they were readily answered.  I would recommend anyone looking for something to love to check them out and see if you can find your "thoroughbred love match".

Hi Erin;

Hope all is well.  I just wanted to drop you a line about “Evil Twin” and let you know how he is doing.  He’s grown about 1-2” since I’ve adopted him and he just loves farm life.  I gave him the winter off and have just started him back into work and he’s doing well.  I’m hoping to get him out to a few shows maybe this fall- he has a good work ethic and is a quick learner and quite brave, too.  I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to adopt him and for all the people involved in finding new careers for these horses once their racing days are over.  I appreciate that the owners and trainers of these horses want to see them go to good homes where they can enjoy new careers and for the people dedicated to making this happen.  I would certainly contact SJTR the next time I’m looking for a new prospect to bring along.  Thanks again .

Sincerely,

 Michele Klesmer

Greetings from 8 hours north in Pa.Jay is a wonderful addition to our family.SJTR was kind enough to let us adopt him a few months ago,as you can see he is putting on weight and pretty sassy. He is all that SJTR promised and even more.I want to  let people know that this organization has saved the lives of many abused animals such as our Jay from the abuse and neglect that many have faced.Jay was thin when we got him look at him now!!!

We need to thank this organization for the blessing that they care enough to check up and be sure that these horses are kept in a safe and loving environment as they deserve.Thank you SJTR for the opportunity to adopt such a loving horse as Jay.Keep in mind everybody this beautiful animal was mistreated and may of ended up on the block for the slaughterhouse,we all need to take a look at how beautiful these horses can get with a little love, patience and the opportunity that SJTR gives them with there second chance to a good home...From my family deepest thanks AliG.M. from PA.

As an equestrian and former veterinary technician, I was almost weary of what might be found at SJTR while en route to the rescue for the first time, as I was well aware of many of the obstacles even veteran horse rescues face and overcome in order to stay afloat. As a recently founded organization, I really wasn't sure what to expect from Erin Hurley and SJTR.

But my expectations were greatly surpassed.

The horses were in wonderful shape. You could certainly tell that SJTR doesn't skimp on grain to reduce costs! There was a methodical morning and evening routine, and every stall was clean and amply bedded. Each horse had two buckets for water, which were always kept fresh. The facilities were in great shape and the volunteers were knowledgeable. Erin was very straightforward, friendly, and honest. I was looking for a horse that really fit my personality and she was very forthright about which horses would and wouldn't work. Thanks to her wonderful guidance and knowledge, I have finally found my match, as well as my best buddy. I really couldn't be happier with my new gelding, and couldn't recommend a more personable, professional, and knowledgeable rescue. I look forward to sending many of my friends her way when they are looking for their forever horse!
